WASHINGTON (September 1, 2010)—U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Dallas, who broke the rules by awarding scholarships to her relatives and an aide's children has repaid about $31,000 to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.

Johnson said in a statement Wednesday that she has repaid the funds in full.

The Dallas Morning News reported earlier this week that the Dallas-area Democrat had violated foundation rules against nepotism and making awards to students living or attending schools outside her district.

The newspaper said Johnson had given about a third of her scholarships since 2005 to two grandsons and two great-nephews and to the son and daughter of her top aide in Dallas.

Johnson said she unknowingly broke the rules.

Thanks, LN. Doc, deciding whose sins are greatest, isn’t the issue. The issue is whether or not we vote in folks who can hold themselves in an honorable light. You mention Chaney, but Chaney was never in court, because all claims against him, in several cases, were found to be baseless. This woman admits she was in the wrong. And, you can bet any politician won’t admit it, unless the goods are clear to see. If you can find an honest democrat (Bet there’s some around) then vote for them, if you’re a dem. But, this willingness to accept dishonor as the norm is just wrong. And, in so doing, you also condone the ruining of our constitution, for this person has voted for your being forced to buy health care, or face stiff penalties, which is unconstitutional. She promotes all the disgusting things that the radical left has advanced. Surely, a decent democrat would not vote to ruin the constitution? JR

I just love Doc's comments. The republicans do it too! That doesn't make it right. The blame game has got to stop. All should have to live by the rules and this congresswomen needs to go. I guess Doc wants to keep her in the congress its not her fault because she only did what others have done. Vote her out.

She aint done no worse, than the republicans- And haliburton, and the defense contractors that cheney and bush helped win government contracts during the war- In fact I remember cheney being named in an indictment for his investment in that Vanguard group mess and the texas prisons. So don't throw rocks at glass houses- the republicans are just as dirty.....
