WACO (September 2, 2010)—Democratic and Republican campaign committees are pumping advertising dollars into Central Texas as the race between U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, and Republican challenger Bill Flores of Bryan, shapes up as one of the hottest congressional races in the country.

Edwards is struggling to hold on to one of the nation's most conservative districts represented by a Democrat—a district that Republican state lawmakers deliberately designed to be Republican friendly.

Edwards told The Associated Press that he's "used to being a target."

He said this year there's clearly an anti-Washington environment and he says he shares those frustrations.

Edwards says he's working hard at the grass-roots level, letting his independent voting record speak for itself.

AP reported that Edwards consistently makes the list of the most vulnerable Democrats.

The district he represents has generally voted Republican in national and state races, but has continued to return Edwards to Washington.

If you like what the Demoncrats have been doing for the past 4 years and you want things to stay on that downward spiral, then vote for Chet. If your standard of living was higher in 2006 than it is now and you want it to improve again, vote Flores. Special interest groups like Texas Farm Bureau and NRA sell their support to the highest bidder, but they don't get to vote. You do! I don't want Nancy Pelosi to be Speaker of the House anymore. I don't want a congress that serves as a door mat for Obama to wipe his shoes on, and I don't want a Representative from Texas that is wiping something else for Obama. Have Obama & Pelosi Evicted. Chet Has A New Gig Elsewhere. That's the only HOPE and CHANGE I want! Vote TEXAS first!

Nevertheless, the NRA did endorse him, locally, anyway. And, who cares about a survey? All you should survey is the litany of articles against this administration in the NRA official magazine. It is 100% against the regime, while touting individual democratic congressmen, who happen to vote their way, once in awhile. I’m sure Chet is one. That’s short-sighted in that they thus support the huge laws that kill our constitution, & will slowly take the 2nd amendment with it. I said nothing about canceling my membership, BTW. And, I fully understand the reasons they support Chet. What is not understandable is how penny wise and pound foolish that is, yet they still do it. The “winning the war…” phrase far precedes Reagan’s usage of it. It was expedient for him, as for me. The reason the regime is in charge is the loss of vision by the masses. The vision of freedom fades, even more, as we speak. It is such a dichotomy to find a ‘liberal’ who thinks in terms of 'The NRA’. JR
