WASHINGTON (September 7, 2010)--A White House official says it's not a mistake to attribute a quotation that's part of the new rug in the Oval Office to civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Presidential press secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday King did indeed speak the words in question, although a 19th-century Boston abolitionist and religious leader, Thomas Parker, inspired King’s statement.

The wheat, cream and blue rug placed in the Oval Office last week features the presidential seal in the center and quotations from famous Americans around the border.

Describing the rug, a White House statement credited King for the quotation, but over the weekend, Washington Post writer Jamie Stiehm pointed out that those words actually go back to Parker.

Ha, not only typical, but what in the world made them think money needed to be spent on redecorating the office to begin with???? Just a small sample of the motives involved...

I am still trying to figure out the whole remodel thing in the Oval Office??? The US has a trillion dollar deficit and Obama is remodeling the Oval Office? Come America wake up and see this is not a President but someone who is in it for the publicity. What next??? New Air Force 1?
