(January 10, 2009)—Rep. John Carter, R-Round Rock, has been appointed to the Transportation Subcommittee of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee.

He’s one of only two Texans in the U.S. House to win appointments to key transportation committees.

“Our state leads the nation in highway miles and has one of the largest populations, and to have our transportation needs represented at the committee level in the House by a single member would place us at a distinct disadvantage, especially with our incoming President seeking a major expansion in highway funding,” Carter said.

Carter won a fourth term in November.
