A Democrat In The White House Means Big Business For Gun Dealers

WACO (April 21, 2009)--The inventory is sparse at Guns ‘R’ Us in Waco.

Owner Gary Hammond said the store can barely keep ammo in stock.

'People want to come in and buy as much as they can, all we've got,' Hammond said.

'A gentleman came in the other day with $1500 wanting to buy as much .380 ammo as he could get and it was all gone, we didn't have anymore,' Hammond said.

So what is it feeding the desire to stockpile ammo and weapons?

Hammond said it is the fear of the unknown.

“They're afraid of what's going to happen with the new administration,” he said.

Baylor Political Science Professor Dr. Tom Myers said one reason is the association the Democratic Party has with gun control.

'There's a fear on some parts that stronger legislation is coming down the pike, that there will be a renewal of assault rifle ban and other more stringent gun control laws so people are buying up what they think they won't be able to get," Myers said.

He said the demand is also driven by insecurity in an uncertain economy, even though that insecurity may not be 'logical'.

Myers said the probability for stringent gun control laws to be passed during this congressional session is unlikely, given other, more important issues on the docket including the economy, education and health care.

It is a shame when our Constitutional RIGHTS are threatened, as our First Amendment rights are threatened, too. Some people shoot guns for competition, some for hunting, many for self-defense. Now a day at the range for me is like a golfer on the course. Our president and his crew don't even know the facts. If guns kill people, then forks make fat people fatter.

its actually being real, with the increase of crimes being committed, i dont answer my door without a gun, dont go shopping without a gun, since the police are never around where the crooks are, and yes i do have my Concealed Weapons Permit. Its the real world of idiots around us and in the white house that is causing this
