WASHINGTON (June 18, 2009)--The U.S. House passed a funding bill Thursday that includes $950,000 for law enforcement in McLennan County and for Baylor aerospace engineering research.

Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, added the funding to the 2010 Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations bill, which the house approved 259 to 157 Thursday.

The bill includes $450,000 for communication upgrades to improve coordination between Waco police, firefighters and paramedics.

The bill also includes $100,000 for McGregor to add security around its industrial area including video surveillance.

The measure provides $400,000 to help Baylor buy equipment and pay for research costs to test carbon fiber composite materials for aerospace and aircraft structures in a project that’s expected to include Texas State Technical College and L3 Communications.
