WASHINGTON (July 3, 2009)—He has predicted that the jobless rate will reach 10 percent, but President Barack Obama is expressing disappointment over the latest employment numbers.
The government says employers cut 467,000 jobs last month, raising the jobless rate to 9.5 percent.
Mr. Obama says too many families are worried about "whether they will be next."
Mr. Obama also told The Associated Press in an interview Thursday he feels his administration has stabilized the housing and financial markets, while he acknowledged that more work needs to be done in the area of job creation.
Mr. Obama says he's confident the economy will turn around in the short term and the nation will prosper in the long term despite another dose of bad unemployment news.
He made that comment in the Rose Garden shortly after a meeting with chief executives from energy companies.

"He has predicted the the jobless rate will reach 10 percent". He also predicted that the jobless rate would stop at 8 percent after the spendulass bill he pushed through. How is that change working out so far? So far it is working out very poorly. All of his "shovel ready" projects aren't getting funded. They have BILLIONS of dollars that they can't say where it went. This administration has done nothing so far to help this country other than spend into oblivion and drive us into deep, deep debt. He will most certainly only be a one term president. The most current polls show Americans have already tired of his socialistic policies and don't want his nanny state and the high taxation that goes with it. They want FREEDOM!
