SAN ANTONIO (August 24, 2009)--As Texas schoolchildren head back to class Monday, state officials are urging commonsense precautions, but say they are prepared for an outbreak of swine flu.

Gov. Rick Perry said Monday in San Antonio that the state has 2.5 million courses of anti-viral medication on hand and has requested 800,000 more.

“Texas’ effort to deal with the H1N1 virus is robust and we are more prepared than ever to handle the challenge with more anti-viral medication in stock, more state and local coordination and more science to battle H1N1,” Perry said.

“With the new school year beginning in most communities today, it’s a good time to remind Texans that frequent hand-washing, good hygiene and staying home if you’re sick can fight the spread of the H1N1 flu virus.”

The vaccine for swine flu won't be available until October, but health officials are recommending that people get both the swine flu and seasonal flu vaccines this year.

Despite the added precautions, Texas officials say the disease does not appear to be any more dangerous than seasonal flu.

They are suggesting people take such commonsense steps as washing their hands and staying home when they're sick.

We can't be sleep on this one. They are really not sure how bad this can be. Also I am reading that H1N1 as the potential of combining with the more deadly bird flu. As you know the bird flu is more lethal but does not spread easily; however, if combined with a carrier like H1N1 this turn into something none of us are prepared for. The the 11 part interview at www.kamuhammad.net with Dr. Alim Muhammad just some more information for us to arm ourselves with.

did you know that glaxxo-smith-klein applied for the patent to this flu variant(h1n1) back before february 2007, just google it and read it right out of the patent and trademarks office. if this was a naturallly occuring flu virus(its not), how did these companies know to patent a vaccine for it before it ever developed???(man-made bio-weapon, thats how)
