Democrat Senator Decries “Bottomless Pit” Stimulus Projects
A senior Democratic senator says Homeland Security officials are treating the economic stimulus package like a bottomless pit of taxpayer dollars.

WASHINGTON (September 16, 2009)--North Dakota Sen. Byron Dorgan is calling on the Obama administration to suspend hundreds of millions of dollars in renovations to Department of Homeland Security border checkpoints because the administration did not follow its priority list when choosing projects, which allowed lower-priority projects, including those in Dorgan's home state, to receive millions of dollars ahead of much busier checkpoints.

Dorgan says it's wrong to spend $15 million on checkpoints that serve a handful of cars a day.

North Dakota would receive $128 million for border projects.

By offering to walk away from it, he is signaling doubt in the administration's assurances that the stimulus was handed out appropriately.

I don't like Democrats, but I like this one. Seems people are seeing the light and turning on 'hope and change'
