HOUSTON (September 30, 2009)--Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Wednesday the climate bill Congress is debating is "draconian" and would cost the state thousands of jobs in the energy sector.

Perry expressed his opposition to the bill at a meeting Wednesday in Houston with business leaders and state lawmakers.

Most Republicans like Perry have voiced strong opposition to the Waxman-Markey climate and energy bill, which the House passed in June.

The Senate is working on its own version of the bill.

The bill includes an economy-wide cap-and-trade system that would require power plants, industrial facilities and refineries to cut carbon dioxide and other climate changing pollution.

GOP leaders say the bill is simply a massive energy tax on consumers.

I read something about this at a gas station here in Belton. For every gallon of gas you buy, an additional $.75 for cap and trade would be added. Do the math...20 gals would be an extra $15.00. These boneheads need to go back to the drawing board and come up with a different plan!!!!
