AUSTIN (October 29, 2009)--Texas Gov. Rick Perry is getting the endorsement of a fellow Republican governor, Haley Barbour of Mississippi.
Barbour, who chairs the Republican Governors Association, praised Perry's efforts to limit government spending.
Perry faces a tough re-election battle against Republican U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, whose campaign revealed this week that former Vice President Dick Cheney will endorse her candidacy.
In Grapevine Thursday afternoon, Perry touted the endorsement of ex-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who will campaign for Perry in January.
The GOP primary fight lately has been a contest to win endorsements, with both candidates announcing big-name supporters.
Perry picked up an endorsement Thursday from the Texas Association of Builders.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson may need Darth Vader Shoot-em-in-the-Face Criminal Dick Cheney after all! I bet Snarlin'Dick could take care of those two pansies with one shot! Not meaning to hurt them, of course--just give them a little scare. It IS Halloween you know! Trick or treat could surely describe our Texas republican candidates for governor. Wonder will we get Trick (Rick) or Kay (Treat?) ????
I will sleep well to night knowing that Gov. Perry has the support of Dick Chaney.
