UNIVERSITY PARK (November 11, 2009)--Some homeowners who live near the site where George W. Bush's presidential library is to be built at Southern Methodist University are critical of a traffic study commissioned by the Bush Foundation.

The Dallas Morning News reported that University Park residents packed City Hall for a meeting Tuesday night on two unrelated matters, the library and a proposal to redevelop part of Snider
Plaza.

The Bush Foundation wants University Park to rezone 15 acres of undeveloped land for the library, which isn't scheduled to open until 2013.

A study commissioned by the Foundation concluded that the existing transportation system can adequately accommodate the library at Southern Methodist University.

But some residents wonder if the traffic study considered all options for routing traffic away from residential areas.

Many of the speakers said the current library plan would create a tourist invasion.

Another planning commission meeting is set for next month.
