HOUSTON (November 17, 2009)--Former Vice President Dick Cheney stepped to the side of Republican U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison Tuesday, giving her his support and helping her raise money for her challenge of Gov. Rick Perry in the 2010 Republican primary.

Cheney was scheduled to appear with Hutchison at a campaign rally early Tuesday evening at Hobby Airport.

After that, they attend a fundraiser at the Houston home of former Enbridge Energy Co. president Dan Tutcher.

The event at Hobby was delayed by about two hours so Hutchison could make it back from Washington, where she has served in the Senate since 1993.

Cheney's blessing represents the highest profile endorsement Hutchison has received so far in the volatile race for the GOP nomination for governor.

Perry’s campaign issued a statement Tuesday evening saying the “appearance is not surprising considering the Washington establishment usually sticks together.”

Well, "Kay Bailey Hutchison" might as well step out of the race for Gov. In my opinion she will Lose because of His Support. I Like Mrs. Hutchison, and I am a Democrat and I would have voted for her but, not now . Now, all the republicans can start yelling at me now because, you think he is a fantastic V.P.. thanks for letting me speak my mind . GOD BLESS AMERICA and the Two police officers at Ft. Hood.
