WASHINGTON (February 1, 2010)--President Barack Obama followed up his State of the Union address with a YouTube interview Tuesday during which he spent about 40 minutes answering video and written questions from YouTube users.

The questions, which were submitted during and after the nationally televised State of the Union address last week, covered familiar territory for the president, including health care, tax breaks for small businesses, and help for people losing their homes to foreclosure.

Mr. Obama also was asked about policy toward Sudan and closing the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

When it was over, Mr. Obama said the interview was terrific and that he hoped to do them regularly.

The interview is available on the White House Web site and on YouTube.

Ha! That is funny. What you think about You Tube and the internet is whatever your mind is programmed with. If you focus on dirt then that is what you will see. I find You Tube an extremely valuable educational tool. It has many phonics video/songs that are helping my child learn the alphabet & numbers along with nursery ryhms. There are now unlimited educational and constructive videos for older children and adults. Also tons of ideas from do-it-yourself home project videos. Im sorry you did not have the comprehension to know why your president used the You Tube. The purpose was not to put on a show but to use it as a portal to obtain feedback from citizens. Reread the article! "spent 40 min of his time to speak to YouTube users". What other president have we had recently that did anything so innovative to communicate with American people?

Most of the material on YouTube rates right up there with MTV. Trash.

Patriot, I'd rather have a president that does good instead of looks good. I just don't understand how people can think a rock star would make a good president. Substance over presentation, people. He wouldn't have to be so worried about his image if he were truely making the world and our country a better place. Being on YouTube doesn't make a president more 'in touch' with the people. Have you seen some of the stuff on YouTube?
