AUSTIN (February 4, 2010)--A spokesperson for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says the use of the word "retarded" by a consultant to Texas Gov. Rick Perry was disrespectful.

Perry’s consultant Dave Carney reportedly used the word several times during a conference call about the first Republican gubernatorial debate, and the campaign manager for rival Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison spread the word about the remark.

Palin had demanded that President Barack Obama's chief of staff be fired for using the word, but her aide, Meg Stapleton, didn't suggest Carney should lose his job.

Stapleton did call the use of the word "disrespectful."

Palin, who has a son with Down syndrome, campaigns with Perry on Sunday.

She says the word "retarded" is a slur.

Perry’s campaign spokesman Mark Miner said Thursday, "It was an unfortunate choice of words and the governor is extremely disappointed."

Is our Society ever going to be able to find 'a' word that will refer to anyone that is either physically challenged, or mentally handicapped, or(?). We have to re-write Webster's Dictionary to please everybody, then it will never be correct! We had to do away with the 'n' word becase of a new President, now we have to do with the 'r' word, when do we have to do away with the 'm' word(moron), or the 'i' word(idiot). The 'a' word and the 'f' word are more offensive than any of the above!! Clean up your own act and do 'not' use the wrong words or foul language, or you may get your mouth washed out with lye soap!! PERIOD!!!

Closed door or not. These the kind of people you want working to head up our State? Using play ground name calling? Last I checked this was not for the Office of Student Body President but for the head or our State. However using that word in perry's camp, pot calling the kettle black. And being from Alaska and knowing the Palins. If she is going to be in perry's camp. Well even more reason to make sure perry finds a new line of work.
