WASHINGTON (February 6, 2010)--President Barack Obama said Saturday it's time for Democrats and Republicans to work together to do what's right for the country.
Mr. Obama told Democratic activists, "We need to change the way we work with the other party."
The president said Democrats can't solve all the nation's problems by themselves, but "need to extend our hands to the other side."
The president said there will be some issues that Democrats and Republicans just don't see eye to eye on.
He says that's OK; it's how the U.S. democracy works.
But he said there have to be some issues they can agree on.
Mr. Obama said now isn't the time to sit on the sidelines or to block progress or to point fingers, or to do only what's right for a party or poll numbers.
Mr. Obama said it's time now to do what's needed to get the country through tough times.

ok, I will bring some novacaine for your jaw so you wont be in so much pain. LMAO
The article (What Obama had to say) speaks to the very problem outline in all these previous comments coming from both major party patrons. No matter how things have gone in the last year, the previous eight years before or the last few months we are getting no where in the here & now. Unless all the wailing & blaming between the two biggest parties ceases there will never be anything useful accomplished. We need dialogue & a willingness to bend by both parties. This country is full of liberals/conservatives/moderates. No one will get exactly what they want, but solutions can be found. OUR country has been doing just that for over two hundred years (if you need proof that it can be done). Obama seems to be getting that in the last few weeks. I just hope it is genuine & that it catches on by both parties. I have heard statements from both sides in the last week suggesting that it is...and I hope for all of our sake that I am right.
angry american in waco-- We Beltonians would love to have you over for tea. Just make sure to bring your prozac. We don't do crazy round here *lol*
