CYPRESS (February 08, 2010)-Gov. Rick Perry got a little national Republican star power during the weekend as Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin stumped for him Sunday at a rally in suburban Houston.

Perry said Palin, quote, "inspires millions of people with her values, her spunk."

Palin appeared with Perry a day after addressed the first national convention of the anti-establishment "tea party" coalition in Nashville, Tenn.

Perry, currently seeking his third four-year term as governor, is firmly entrenched in Texas politics but has campaigned as anti-Washington in the March 2 GOP primary race against U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and libertarian-leaning activist Debra Medina.

A win for Perry in November would add to his tenure as the longest-serving governor in Texas history.

Palin said the connections between Texas and Alaska included "wide open spaces" and many residents who, quote, "proudly cling to our guns and religion."

Early voting for the March 2 primary begins on February 16.

Palin backing the most corrupt governor Texas has ever had opened my eyes. Didn't take herlong to become one of the corrupt. Very disappointing. You are not a true Texan if you support Perry's Trans-Texas Corridor. If re-elected he will again press to have the TTC become a realty. He wants to tear Texas apart & take over 600,000 acres of prime farm land to be turned into a toll road. Our tax dollars will pay for this, but not one penny will ever come back to Texas. It will go to Perry, his cronies, & Spain. If that is not bad enough Texas will loose many, many family farms & small towns in Texas will disappear. You can vote for a self-serving Perry, or an unknown Medina with no experience (this has not worked well on a national level), or Hutchison who does not have a perfect record, but is still the best for the job. Perry deserves to be run out of Texas on a rail & never allowed to return. A VOTE FOR HUTCHISON IS A VOTE FOR TEXAS AND HER CITIZENS.

I AM SHOCKED THAT PALIN THREW HER SUPPORT TO PERRY. SHE IS EITHER UNFAMILAR WITH HIS RECORD OR OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY. I WAS BEHIND HER 100% NOW I'M NOT SO SURE. IF SHE BACKS THE WAY PERRY DOES BUSINESS AND THE DAMAGE HE HAS DONE TO OUR STATE JUST TO PUT MONEY IN HIS POCKET AND SUPPORTS HIS MORALS & VALUES THEN MAYBE SHE SHOULD NOT RUN. PERRY LOST MY TRUST & SUPPORT THE FIRST YEAR HE TOOK OVER FOR BUSH. SO FAR HE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING TO REGAIN EITHER. IN MY OPINION HE HAS BEEN THE WORST GOVERNOR TEXAS HAS EVER HAD. WHAT IS BEST FOR TEXAS AND HER CITIZENS IS LAST ON HIS LIST OF PRIORITES UNLESS HE GETS SOMETHING OUT OF IT. FIRST ON HIS LIST IS FILLING HIS OWN POCKETS & THE POCKETS OF HIS CRONIES. AFTER SERVING OUT THE REST OF BUSH'S TERM HE SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ELECTED. HE DEFINITELY SHOULD NOT BE RE-ELECTED. HE SHOULD BE RUN OUT OF THE STATE ON A RAIL AND NEVER ALLOWED TO RETURN.
