BRISTOL, Tenn. (February 23, 2010)—Dr. David Stevens, who heads the Christian Medical Association, says he is concerned that President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, which many thought was dead, appears to have been resurrected.
Stevens said he fears that Mr. Obama's plan would provide inadequate conscience protection for medical professionals who oppose abortion.
He said a survey of 2,800 faith-based doctors, nurses and pharmacists found that 95 percent of them would quit medicine rather than violate their consciences.
Stevens also said he objects to dropping the tougher House language barring federal funding of abortions.
Stevens said the president's proposal is too expensive, and fails to rein in malpractice lawsuits that drive up the cost of medicine.

First of all the statistic about 30 to 40 million people not being covered is not accurate. If you go without health coverage for one day, no matter the reason, then you are counted as one of those with no coverage. Second, some just dont understand basic economics, a business is in business to make money.
to angry german: so I have to pay for insurance for those that either can not or don't want to buy it? You infer free, free, free, but conservatives look at the budget realistically. The over spending and resulting over taxing is killing our economy. I am for medical coverage for all, but we all have to pay for it. When only half of Americans pay federal taxes, why should that half pay more? Keep in mind that when working Americans pay federal taxes and then get all that money back after filing their income tax return, their taxes paid were zero. O.K. let everyone pay a flat tax (i.e. national sales tax) for the coverage of the 33 million Americans presently not covered., no exceptions, no refunds.
Hummm, I wonder why. If check his bank deposits you find there is a financial motive.
