WASHINGTON (March 13, 2010)--In an interview with CNN's "State of the Union," John Boehner said if House Democrats had the votes to pass a sweeping health care reform bill, they would have acted by now.

He said they have been trying since June and July of last year, but haven't been able to get it adopted.

Republicans in the House and Senate are unanimously opposed to the sweeping legislation, which would extend coverage to some 30 million uninsured Americans with a new mandate for nearly everyone to carry insurance.

In the weekly GOP radio and Internet address, Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts, the newest member of the U.S. Senate, accused President Barack Obama and Democrats of a "bitter, destructive and endless" drive to pass the legislation.

Brown warned that the measure would be disastrous.
