STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (March 15, 2010)—As President Barack Obama addressed a crowd Monday in Ohio, a woman who shouted, "We need courage" briefly interrupted the speech.

Mr. Obama quickly adopted the line and repeated it.

HeObama used the speech to try to reassure seniors that his health care plan will make Medicare stronger.

Mr. Obama and congressional Democratic leaders are scrambling to secure the support for his top domestic initiative and trying to coax nervous Democrats to support the legislation.

Votes are possible later this week.

Mr. Obama's Ohio appearance was his third campaign-style event in a week.

He went to Ohio specifically because of Natoma Canfield, a self-employed cleaning woman who wrote him in exasperation about having to drop her health insurance in January when her health insurance premium rose to nearly $8,500 a year.

Canfield could not be on stage with Obama because she is undergoing treatment for leukemia.

Northeast Ohio is home to two Democrats who voted against the bill last November, Dennis Kucinich and John Boccieri, and one who voted for the bill but is undecided, Betty Sutton.

Kucinich accompanied Mr. Obama Monday on Air Force One.
