FAIRFAX, Va. (March 19, 2010)—As the final votes on his sweeping health care overhaul legislation, loom, President Barack Obama said Friday the only question left to answer is: Will the country let the insurance companies win again?

Rallying support Friday at a campaign-style rally in northern Virginia, Mr. Obama said the insurance industry will continue to "run wild" if the House vote set for Sunday fails.

Republicans are united in opposition to Mr. Obama's proposal, and House Democrats are still searching for the 216 votes they need to pass the Senate version of the sweeping overhaul bill and send it to the president for his signature.

Without change, Mr. Obama said insurance companies will continue to deny people coverage and care and impose stiff premium hikes.

At least four House Democrats have switched from "no" votes to "yes" on health care overhaul, but the momentum isn't all in the right direction for Democratic leaders as a likely Sunday vote approaches.

Some Democrats who backed health care legislation when it passed the House in November are showing signs of defecting.

Stephen Lynch of Massachusetts, a former union activist, said he's still not convinced that the legislation does enough to reform the health system and rein-in insurers and drug companies, and even a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Obama Thursday didn't win him over.

But he said Mr. Obama asked him to "think about it," and he said Mr. Obama told him to let him know if there's "some type of measure" that might help change his mind.

A dozen anti-abortion Democrats are still opposed because they don't think the language on federal funding of abortions is strict enough.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been seeking out lawmakers individually or in small groups on the House floor to try to win them over.

On the upside, the Democrats are throwing in a loss of freedom and a reduction of quality in health care at no extra cost.

Why doesn't he just put a big billboard up in front of the White House that reads, "Lawmakers: I will buy your vote NO MATTER WHAT THE COST TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!" Truth in advertising!
