HOUSTON (July 31, 2012)--Locked in a tight primary runoff for the GOP Senate nomination, tea party favorite Ted Cruz was calling on conservatives in Texas Tuesday to "come out and vote" and get 10 friends to do the same.

Cruz told about two-dozen campaigners at a polling station in an upscale Houston neighborhood Tuesday that the outcome of his bitter race against Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst would be determined by voter turnout.

He said "grass-roots conservatives all over the place" helped him force a runoff with a longtime politician thought to be a lock for the Senatorial bid.

Cruz told Texans to vote for him if they want to "repeal every word" of President Barack Obama's health care reform bill and stop Washington spending.

Dewhurst was to visit Houston later Tuesday.
