DALLAS (October 9, 2012)—The National Federation of Independent Business, a national small business trade association, endorsed Texas Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ted Cruz Tuesday.

The tea party favorite and former state solicitor visited a Dallas machine company Tuesday where he he accepted the nomination of the federation’s political action committee.

Cruz is vying with former Democratic state Rep. Paul Sadler to replace retiring Republican U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

The federation was founded in 1943 and has members around the country.

Its mission is to help members "own, operate and grow their businesses."

“We have to get the boot of the federal government off the necks of small business owners,” Cruz said.

He promised to reduce federal regulations and reduce government spending.

Sadler was campaigning Tuesday in Lubbock on the campus of Texas Tech University.
