FORT WORTH (September 26, 2012)—Texas Gov. Rick Perry is renewing his campaign for tighter restrictions on the growth of state spending.

In a statement issued by his office, Perry said he wants the Legislature to put before state voters a proposal to limit the growth of government spending constitutionally, which would limit spending growth to the rate of the state's population growth combined with the rate of inflation.

Perry was scheduled to describe the plan to the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday afternoon.
