AUSTIN (December 6, 2012)--A Central Texas holiday charity's efforts have been blocked after state officials questioned how funds were raised and what happened to the money.
A judge in Austin set a Dec. 19 injunction hearing in the case of the Christmas Bureau of Austin & Travis County.
On Wednesday Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott charged the organization and four current and past officials with illegally soliciting donations and misappropriating the money.
A judge then froze the assets of the group, which allegedly supported charitable efforts of law enforcement groups.
Abbott says a review indicates the group's bank accounts have been depleted and the organization has closed.
