HOUSTON (November 3, 2009)--An anti-tax protest at a horseracing track in Houston drew a crowd of more than 10,000 on the eve of the election Monday.

Members of the North Houston Tea Party Patriots gathering Monday night to demonstrate against proposed health care reform and what they called big government spending.

The crowd at Sam Houston Race Park cheered as speakers called for them to take control of the U.S. government and defend the Constitution.

Laureen Jones and Joan Orozco of The Woodlands told the Houston Chronicle they were on hand to protest government spending and government-run health care.

Race park officials said preliminary attendance numbers, putting the crowd at more than 10,000, were based on turnstiles.

Neither mainstream party's candidates adequately represent the citizens, and tend to cater more to lobbyists than constituents. Unfortunately, those protesting tend to be of one of the mainstream parties, and ignore the fact that their party is equally guilty of wasting taxpayers' money. Until everyone comes together, regardless of political affiliation, to protest wasteful spending and taxation without adequate representation, it will continue to be business as usual in D.C.
