AUSTIN (November 13, 2009)--U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is challenging Gov. Rick Perry in the Republican primary, plans to announce Saturday that she won't resign her Senate seat until after the March primaries are over.
Campaign officials provided The Associated Press a copy of her prepared speech to Republican women in Galveston on Saturday.
In the speech, Hutchison will say she is stepping down in 2010 regardless of who wins the Republican primary for governor, but she will say there are too many important issues facing Congress for her to quit this fall as she had planned.
The senator says in the written speech that she "will be resigning this Senate seat" next year.
"Make no mistake, this is going to happen," Hutchison plans to say.
Gov. Rick Perry has chided Hutchison for splitting her time between the campaign and her Senate duties.
His campaign issued a brief statement Friday that said, "We appreciate that Senator Hutchison has taken the governor's advice and finally decided to make a decision to stay in Washington. Hopefully this will allow her to be a full-time senator for the people of Texas."

Maybe this is the best way to do this, but the decision was Kay's, not Perry's!!!
Why should anyone vote for this empty skirt? she has no confidence in herself to run for this position, why should anyone else be convinced she will do any better than perry?. if you like amnesty and throwing away the states rights for illegal aliens, then go right ahead and vote for this sell-out. ms. hutchison- i wrote you repeatedly about the young 19 yr. old girl who was kidnapped then raped then strangled then set on fire in her car by who?- none other than an illegal alien. you never responded to my letters and phone calls, making you complicit in this young lady's murder by refusing to confront and deal with the illegals streaming into our country; immune to prosecution for the crime of invasion as well as any other crimes they have committed. how dare you run for another public office, you should be brought up on charges.
