SUGAR LAND (November 18, 2009)—Sugarland Mayor James Thompson was robbed at gunpoint after a city council meeting and Wednesday police said the robber remained at large.
Thompson, who said "it could happen to anybody," was robbed Tuesday night in the driveway of his home after returning from the meeting.
Thompson told police that he got out of his SUV when a gun was put to his head and the unknown man demanded cash.
Thompson says the robber ordered him to crawl under his SUV, and then ran off with about $80 and the mayor's cell phone.
