AUSTIN (January 29, 2010)-It’s the final showdown Friday for the Republican candidates for Texas governor and the three contenders are ready to go toe-to-toe…to toe.

Gov. Rick Perry, the state’s longest serving governor faces top challenger Kay Bailey Hutchison, the state's senior U.S. senator who wants his job.

But a third libertarian-leaning horse has also snagged a bit of the spotlight.

Recent polls show Debra Medina has broken into double-digit support, causing Belo, Inc. to reconsider her prospects as a serious contender and grant her a spot on the stage in Friday’s debate.

Speaking to reporters in Austin yesterday, Perry said he doesn't need any special preparation ahead of the debate, which kicks off at 7 p.m. in the Dallas-based studios of Belo-owned WFAA-TV.

Hutchison spokeswoman Jennifer Baker says the longtime lawmaker would use the debate to tell voters she has a plan to address problems she believes have gone unaddressed under Rick Perry.

The debate will air live on Belo stations in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and on Texas Cable News.

The debate will also stream live across the Internet from all Belo-owned Web sites as well as the Web site of a Belo cousin, The Dallas Morning News.

Texas voters head to the polls on March 2 for the primary elections.

Check out Medina's views. She is more put together than the career politicians. I'm sick of Perry. Not sure I trust KBH. Medina is down to earth and real. Its about time we get someone like this. Don't take my word for it though research her!

I'm waiting! But Guv. P. and KBH better stop arguing, and I'm beginning to like Medina! Since basically We've talked about cleaning house, and not voting for any Incumbents!! This may also give us all a chance to vote someone else into KBH's place!! Just a thought!
