WACO (February 4, 2010)—Saying that he has resolved all of his tax issues with the Internal Revenue Service, Rep. Doc Anderson, R-Waco, said Thursday he wouldn’t justify McLennan County Democratic Party Chairman’s call for his resignation with an answer.

Saying, “Doc’s consistent failure to pay his taxes reveals a pattern of carelessness or incompetence, and proves he is unfit to represent us in the Texas Legislature,” Democratic County Chairman John Cullar called on Anderson to resign earlier Thursday.

Cullar said the U.S. Internal Revenue Service filed a federal tax lien against Anderson on Jan. 25 over $11,522.01 in unpaid taxes.

Previous liens totaling $58,122.40 were filed against Anderson in December for unpaid personal income taxes in 2003, 2006 and 2007.

“The people of McLennan County who reside in the 56th District deserve better representation,” Cullar said.

But Anderson said he has paid all money that he owed and attributed his tax problems to oversights by him and his accountant.

“I believe we have fully resolved the issue, both to my satisfaction and to that of the IRS,” he said.

Anderson has served in the Texas House since 2005.

He’s unopposed in the March GOP primary, but faces Democrat John Mabry in November.

Susan -- you really need to read more. What does John Cullar have to do with Margaret Mills stealing money. He was not on the Board of Directors of Downtown Waco, Inc., Scott Felton, Pat Millar, etc. were, hold the Board responsible for Margaret Mills, not John Cullar. Besides that, these are two different issues. Get a Life.

I don't know 'Doc' Anderson personally or have anything against him, but just how does 'any' person get by without paying their Income Taxes, then say "Oh, there was an oversight, a mis-understanding" Any of the rest of us would have been arrested and put in Jail!

Another fine example of a "Good" politician. He talks a lot to convince you to vote for him; but actually tries to hide info from the IRS. A sort of "slight of hand" from Doc Anderson. Well, Tom Daschle, Treasury Secretary Gietner all were caught, but no one cried "foul" too loudly from the Democrats. At least be consistent Democrats. Call a thief, a "Thief" be they Republican or DEMOCRAT.
