McALLEN (March 12, 2010)--Gov. Rick Perry said Friday state and federal authorities are trying to get answers about the Mexican military helicopter that crossed the Texas-Mexico border late Wednesday afternoon.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed that a Mexican military helicopter crossed the border near Falcon Dam in Zapata County before returning to Mexico without landing.

Calls for comment to the Mexican Navy were not returned.

The Mexican army and navy are both involved in anti-drug trafficking operations in Mexican border cities.

In a prepared statement Friday, Perry called for better communication between U.S. and Mexican authorities along the border.

“As violence escalates in Mexican border cities, it’s critically important for Texas, U.S. and Mexican law enforcement to communicate and appropriately coordinate our efforts to combat border crime and protect legitimate cross-border trade and travel,” Perry said.

“The helicopter incursion and uptick in violence in Mexican border communities underscore the urgent need for more U.S. law enforcement and surveillance along the Texas-Mexico border,” Perry said.

“I once again urge our federal government to add personnel and technology along the Texas-Mexico border to prevent spillover violence here and to combat drug cartels operating in the border region,” he said.

I am a Mexican AMERICAN. I live here, in U.S., so my loyalty is to this great nation. I have family in Mexico, and I know exactly how my people think and work. Any other Mex.Amer. out there may also know what I am talking about, but act stupid. How do we know that that was bit a cartel's chopper. In Mexico the gov. and bad guys are one and the same. Until America realizes this and does something, we are all screwed.

It's too bad that Mexican military chopper wasn't looking for illegals! We don't need better equipment in the border patrols hands just put our military at the border. They have everything they need. M-1 tanks and Apaches have infrared sensors and night vision and they can blast things from miles away. I think it's time we show these illegals we mean business.

I personally would like to see the Troops brought back from the Middle east, then place them about every 50 yards apart on the Mexico Border, with Sniper rifles, with plenty of ammo, and shoot everyone that tried to cross. And this helicopter was tresspassing(not an incursion)!! And my first comment was also deleted?
