AUSTIN (January 31, 2012)--Former U.S. fighter pilot Scott O’Grady, who was shot down over Bosnia, has suspended his campaign for the Texas Senate in the midst of the ongoing redistricting dispute.

Republican Scott O'Grady, on his Facebook page Monday, cited the "uncertainty of a primary election date from redistricting."

O'Grady, who lives in North Texas, was running in District 8, which includes parts of Dallas and Collin counties.

Closing arguments were presented Tuesday in Washington in a trial to determine whether the maps drawn by the GOP-dominated Texas Legislature violated the federal Voting Rights Act.

The dispute has put the April 3 primaries in jeopardy.

O'Grady was flying an F-16 when he was shot down by Bosnian Serbs in 1995 while enforcing a NATO no-fly zone.

He evaded capture for six days before U.S. Marines rescued him.
