Fort Hood: Army major dies of gunshot wound

FORT HOOD (January 22, 2016) A news release issued Friday from Fort Hood says a soldier who was found dead at his Nolanville apartment in mid-January died from a gunshot wound.

Maj. Troy Donn Wayman was found inside his residence at about 10 a.m. on January 16 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wayman, 45, listed his home of record as Lincoln, Neb., and entered the Nebraska National Guard as an enlisted man in August 1989 and later was commissioned a 2nd Lt. Upon moving to active duty in the U.S. Army.

He was first assigned to Fort Hood with First Army Division West in Oct. 12, 2014.
"This is a terrible loss and we are grieving the loss of this valued teammate," said Maj. Gen. Jeffrey N. Colt, commanding general, First Army Division West.

"We remain fully committed to supporting Maj. Wayman's family and friends and want to reinforce no one should ever feel like they're alone or without our support."
