7-11 robbery suspect nabbed after chase

WACO, Texas (KWTX & Waco police) Early Sunday Waco and Baylor University Officers arrested a suspect in a robbery at the 7-11 on University Parks Drive.

The suspect was located and after a short foot chase he was taken into custody and charged with that Aggravated Robbery.

Dispatchers received the call of a robbery in progress. Baylor and Waco Officers surrounded the area looking for the suspect.

As dispatchers began relaying information from the victims, the suspect was spotted in the parking lot several blocks away. The suspect began running and jumped a fence into the Abbey Glen Apartment complex where officers were able to capture and arrest 53-year-old Mack Johnson.

Johnson allegedly entered the store wearing a mask and acted as if he had a gun. the suspect went behind the register where he ordered the clerk to open the register and demanded money. The suspect also took two packs of cigarettes while behind the counter.

During the robbery, Baylor officers entered the store . That's when the suspect ran out the back door and the chase began.

There were two clerks inside the store at the time, neither of which was harmed during the incident. Police say it is possible Johnson may be involved in previous robberies in the Waco area.
