WHITNEY, Texas (KWTX) Texas Child protective services took custody of five children after a raid on a home in Whitney that led to two arrests and the seizure of 70 grams or about 2 ½ ounces of methamphetamine.
“It was the largest narcotics arrest that we have made in the City of Whitney,” police Chief Christopher Bentley said Monday.
The warrant was served Friday at a home in the 600 block of South Brazos Street in Whitney, just several blocks away from both Whitney Intermediate School and Whitney Elementary School.
Investigators also recovered an unspecified amount of marijuana and distribution supplies, police said in a press release.
"This has been investigation that we've been working on for several weeks. I think we were surprised at the large quantity that we seized," Bentley said.
Detrick Darnell Walter, 25, and Leonotdra Garrett were arrested.
Walter faces drug possession charges and Garrett faces a charge of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance, police said.
Walter was held Monday on bonds totaling $101,000.
Garrett’s bonds total $250,000.
