FREDERICK, Okla. (KWTX) A Baylor running back and a female companion were facing marijuana possession charges after they were arrested Friday in Oklahoma following a traffic stop as they returned to Texas after a spring break trip to Colorado.

Senior Devin Chafin, 21, of Burkburnett and Jennifer Kerr, 21, were taken to the Tillman County Jail in Frederick, Okla., just north of Vernon.

Tillman County Sheriff Bobby Whittington said in a Facebook post that he pulled the two over at around 8:30 a.m. Friday on Highway 70 west of Grandfield, Okla., for speeding.

“During the course of the stop, it was discovered that the occupants were in possession of marijuana and marijuana candy that they purchased in Colorado while on spring break,” Whittington said in the post.

Recreational marijuana sales are legal in Colorado.

Photos posted on the Facebook page show that the marijuana was contained in what appear to be prescription vials.

Chafin "has been suspended until further information is gathered,
head coach Art Briles said in a statement Friday.
