WACO, Texas (KWTX) Baylor University Monday named a new vice president for marketing and communications.

Jason D. Cook, who’s now at Texas A&M University, will begin a transition to Baylor in mid-December.

He served as A&M’s vice president for marketing and communications from 2008 to 2013.

“His varied experiences in corporate marketing, crisis management, athletics communication and higher education marketing will be an invaluable addition to the university’s leadership team. He will lead an outstanding staff of marketing professionals as we move Baylor University forward,” interim President David Garland said in a press release Monday.

Cook replaces John Barry, who left in January to take a similar job at the University of Richmond after nearly a decade at Baylor.
Karen Kemp, Baylor’s associate vice president for marketing communications, has served as acting vice president.
