WACO, Texas (KWTX) Police are investigating after a decomposed body was discovered in a car in the parking lot of a shuttered Jack in the Box restaurant at 725 South University Parks Dr. near the Baylor University campus.

A lawn crew made the grim discovery at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and called police.

The body is that of a male, but is too badly decomposed for an immediate determination of race, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The car is registered locally, he said.

An autopsy was ordered.

Prescription drugs and some unspecified paraphernalia were recovered from the car that may indicate the man was either a drug user or a diabetic, he said.

The car had been in the parking lot for at least two days, employees of a nearby convenience store said.
