Body of National Guard soldier who died at Fort Hood returned home

FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) The body Indiana National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Mark Boner, 43, who died at Fort Hood while preparing for a deployment was being returned to his home state Friday.

Boner died early in the morning on Jan. 6 as he and about 250 other members of the Kokomo, Ind.-based 38th Sustainment Brigade trained for a deployment to Kuwait.

The death is under investigation.

His body is scheduled to arrive Friday evening at Indianapolis International Airport.

A private ceremony will mark the arrival.

A funeral service is Monday in Fort Wayne.

Boner served as an automated logistical specialist with the unit.

He deployed to Iraq in 2009.
