WACO, Texas (KWTX) A wanted man who tried to flee from a Hewitt officer over the weekend remained in jail Tuesday in lieu of bonds totaling $512,000.

The officer, who responded to a call Sunday from a clerk at a Valero station about a man behind the business who appeared to be drunk, arrested Michael Allen Kalinec, 58, ran a records check, and discovered Kalinec was named in outstanding warrants from three law enforcement agencies.

He’s held on two Robinson warrants charging possession of a controlled substance, a McLennan County warrant charging possession of a controlled substance, and a Waco warrant charging failure to stop and render aid.

The Waco warrant stems from a hit-and-run accident in November 2017 that left a bicyclist injured.
