GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) A Coryell County burglary and theft investigation has led to two arrests and the recovery of as much as $150,000 in stolen property.

Billy Tate Shoaf, 35, and Ashley Nicole Mitchell, 24, were in the Coryell County Jail Wednesday charged with theft over $1,500, but less than $20,000, but are facing possible charges “in multiple burglaries and thefts in multiple Central Texas counties,” Chief Coryell County Deputy Mark Wilcox said in a press release Wednesday.

Additional charges were added late Wednesday.

Shoaf was named in four additional complaints charging burglary of a habitation and burglary of a building.

His bonds total nearly $100,000, authorities said.

Mitchell was named in an additional theft complaint and a complaint charging possession of a controlled substance.

She’s held in lieu of bonds totaling $25,000.

Coryell County Sheriff Scott Williams said Wednesday evening the burglary bust was the biggest he can remember in years.

The office was still receiving calls Wednesday evening from possible victims as news of the arrest spread.

Shoaf and Mitchell were arrested on Monday after officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant for Shoaf at 110 Old Waco St.

“While at the residence multiple items were observed in plain view, which were known to be items taken in burglaries,” Wilcox said.

Investigators obtained a search warrant, which led to the recovery of items taken in burglaries in Coryell, Bosque and Bell counties he said.

Authorities also received information about other stolen items that were in a storage facility in Gatesville.

On Tuesday they obtained a warrant, searched the facility and recovered additional stolen property, he said.

Investigators also recovered less than two ounces of marijuana and less that one gram of methamphetamine from the home on Waco Street, he said.

“At this time numerous warrants for burglary/theft from all counties are being completed and will be served on the defendants,” he said.

Authorities say they recovered additional stolen items Wednesday.
