TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Almost a dozen travelers were temporarily stranded Monday after their bus burst into flames on Interstate 35 on the north side of Temple.

The fire was reported just before 12:45 p.m. Monday on the southbound highway just north of the Berger Road exit.

No injuries were reported, but the passengers were left standing beside the highway with their luggage as the burned-out bus was towed off.

Another bus was sent to pick them up and they later resumed their trip.

The bus, with a driver and 11 passengers aboard, was headed to Laredo and then into Mexico.

The accident scene was cleared by around 2 p.m.

The fire may have been the result of a blown-out tire, authorities said.

The rear tires and rear interior of the bus were burning when the first firefighters arrived.

A Troy police officer was credited with helping the passengers to safety.

Firefighters from Temple and Troy responded.
