KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A motorcyclist led officers on a chase Thursday that ended in a crash and then ran, ditching his helmet and some clothing in the parking lot of a Killeen barbecue restaurant.

The chase started at around 12:30 p.m. in Killeen after a deputy constable attempted to pull the rider over as he entered an onramp to U.S. Highway 190/Interstate 14 for traffic violations.

The rider sped off with the constable in pursuit, but the motorcycle reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour and the officer ended the chase and notified other agencies in the area of Rosewood Drive and U.S. 190.

Other officers spotted the motorcycle and resumed the chase, which ended when the motorcycle crashed.

The rider ran toward a nearby Rudy’s Country Store and BBQ, where he hid his helmet and some clothing under some parked vehicles.

Authorities caught him not far from the restaurant

The unidentified biker was in the Bell County Jail Thursday evening facing felony evading arrest charges.
