WACO, Texas (KWTX) The Falls County Sheriff's office is investigating the death of McLennan County Sheriff’s Deputy Lindsay Dieterich, 35, whose body was found Saturday on property owned by his family in rural Falls County off State Highway 7 between Marlin and Kosse.

Dieterich died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and at least one note was found at the scene, sources familiar with the investigation said Wednesday.

“It's an extremely sad situation for his family and the sheriff's office as well...but we have no comment on the investigation, we are not involved in the investigation, that's being done by Falls County,” McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said Wednesday.

Dieterich was assigned to the county’s Prisoner Utilization Program, taking jail trustees to work in Pct. 2 in the eastern part of the county, including the precinct’s work yard.

Pct. 2 County Commissioners Lester Gibson described him as “a good worker who had a good attitude.”

The yard’s foreman, Andre Langrum, told KWTX, he didn’t notice any signs of distress.

Dieterich leaves behind a wife, a 10-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter.

A funeral service for Dieterich is at 5 p.m. Friday at 5pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco.
