LORENA, Texas (KWTX) A 6-year-old boy who either fell or got into a backyard pool late Wednesday afternoon at a home in the 1800 block of Southern View in Lorena was taken by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco and then was flown to McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple.

Paramedics and deputies were dispatched to the home at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The boy was wearing flotation devices or “floaties” on his arms while swimming with his family, but removed them after getting out and then later either fell or got back into the pool without them, authorities said.

A family member spotted him, pulled him out, and began to perform CPR.

Deputies said the boy was responsive as paramedics transported him to the Waco hospital and even resisted as a paramedic inserted an IV needle.

Information about his condition wasn't available Wednesday evening.
