TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Funeral services took place Saturday afternoon for a father and daughter 3 weeks after a tragic boating accident at Temple Lake Park led to their deaths.

Many family and friends paid their respects at Temple Bible Church to 31-year-old Patrick Oliver and 4-year-old Kaitlyn Oliver.

Services ran from 3 to 4 p.m.

Kaitlyn passed away the night of the accident on June 23. A house boat backed up on the two. Patrick lost both his legs from the boat’s propeller as he tried to save her. He later died July 6.

Much of the community is showing tremendous support for the Oliver family over the last few weeks.

Crotty Funeral Home in Belton covered the costs of both funerals.

"My first thought was we got it, we’ll take care of it. It could've been my son,” Owner and funeral director Jarrah Crotty said. “We are at the lake every weekend. It could've been my son too. I would hope the community would come through for me like the community has come through for them.”

According to Crotty, many family members were coming in as far as San Antonio for Saturday's services.

She said the family plans to return to their hometown soon.

A balloon release followed the services as family gathered outside and released dozens of blue and pink balloons for Patrick and Kaitlyn.

The Oliver family is still dealing with medical and other related expenses from the accident.
