GHOLSON, Texas (KWTX) A 35-year-old Gholson man has been arrested on a continuous family violence charge stemming from an incident involving his estranged wife.

Donald Clint Cargill was in the McLennan County Jail Monday after his arrest Sunday at his former home, authorities said.

He is also charged with terroristic threat and unlawful restraint.

His bonds total $21,500.

Late Monday afternoon, two new charges were filed; unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and assault family violence in violation of a protective order.

Bonds on those charges total $500,000.

"Cargill has been handled a number of times recently. He violated the protective order last year, then was arrested in December on unlawful possession of a weapon, driving unregistered vehicle among four charges,” McLennan County Chief Deputy David Kilcrease said.

Cargill was arrested in January on a family assault charge, as well.

He was named in an emergency protective order issued Monday.
