HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) A fire that damaged a Harker Heights restaurant was accidental, officials said Thursday.

The fire at Kiku Gardens Restaurant at 128 East Veterans Memorial Blvd. was reported at around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Smoke was showing from the building when the first crew arrived.

Firefighters forced entry through the front doors of the restaurant and extinguished the fire within less than a 15 minutes.

Investigators determined that the fire started in one of the restaurant’s hibachi tables.

The building had neither a fire alarm nor an automatic fire sprinkler system, officials said.
