Job seekers flock to KISD's job fair

KILLEEN,Texas (KWTX) The Killeen Independent School District is looking for the next generation of teachers.

On Saturday morning, the district welcomed nearly 400 educators to its annual job fair.

Administrators from the schools interviewed potential candidates at Harker Heights High School.

Steve Cook, KISD's Chief of Human Resources, said the district hires about 500 new teachers each year.

"One hundred of them are usually recruited from the job fair," said Cook.

Cook believes the fair also gives candidates the opportunity to find the school may best be fit for them.

"Well, the difference is that they get the opportunity to meet campus leaders and see if they can find a campus they like more
than another one. They have that opportunity to meet with folks, as opposed to us sending them one by one," said Cook.

Educators who showed up today and passed the first round of interviews will receive job offers next week.
