GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) A Gatesville man who was found guilty in court of evading arrest in a vehicle failed to show up for his sentencing hearing on Wednesday and now is the subject of a police search.

Judge Trent Farrell, in 52nd District Court, issued an arrested warrant Wednesday for Cory James Tabors, 26, after Tabors failed to appear Wednesday for his sentencing hearing.

Punishment for the crime ranges from two to 10 years in state prison, Coryell County District Attorney Dustin Boyd said.

Boyd said Farrell ordered the trial to continue in absentia, which means the jury still will hear punishment testimony and determine a sentence for Tabors, even though he will not be present in the court room.
